# Delete your account

> Delete your Cactal account from Account settings: what to do first if you own an organization with other members, how identity verification works, what is deleted with your account, and what stays with your organizations.

Deleting your account signs you out everywhere and removes you from every organization. It can't be undone.

## Before you start

You can't delete your account while you own an organization that has other members, since it would be left without an owner. For each one, either [transfer ownership](https://cactal.ai/docs/concepts/access-control.md#organization-roles) to another member or delete the organization from its settings.

**1. Open Account settings**

Open **Account settings** and scroll to **Delete account**.

**2. Confirm**

Select **Delete account…**, type your account email, and confirm.

**3. Verify your identity if asked**

If you signed in more than a day ago, Cactal emails you a six-digit code. Enter it to finish deleting your account.

When it's done, you're signed out and back on the sign-in page.

## What's deleted

* Your account, its sign-in methods, and every session on every device.
* Organizations you're the only member of, with their websites, which go offline at once and are permanently erased after 30 days. Their paid plans stop renewing at the end of the current billing period.
* Your membership in every other organization and your access to single websites.
* Your [AI connections](https://cactal.ai/docs/agents/chatgpt-and-claude.md). Connected apps stop working at once.
* Invitations you sent, invitations waiting for your email address, and product feedback you sent.

## What stays

* Organizations you leave keep their websites, content, and API keys. API keys belong to organizations, not people.
* Their [audit logs](https://cactal.ai/docs/platform/security.md#audit-logging) keep what you did, shown as **Deleted user**.

Only you can delete your account, from a signed-in session in Cactal. API keys and AI connections can't.
