Describe yourself

What you do, what you're looking for and how people should reach you. Cactal writes the pages, sets up your contact form and publishes the site.

How it works

  1. 1Pick a design

Browse by what you do and open any design to see it full size.

  2. 2Add your details

Your background, experience, writing and how people should reach you. Cactal writes every page and builds the site from your design.

  3. 3Publish

Ask for changes in plain words until it's right, then publish free on a Cactal domain, or on your own domain with Pro.

What a personal website needs

Who you are in one line

Your name, what you do and what you're looking for, right at the top. Recruiters, editors and event organizers decide quickly whether to keep reading.

Your story, in your own voice

A short about section written the way you talk. A few specific details about your work and interests make you memorable in a way a resume can't.

A resume worth reading

Recent roles first, with what you did and what changed because of it. Offer a downloadable PDF too, since many recruiters want a file they can pass along.

Proof of your work

Projects, articles, talks or publications, each with a sentence of context. Link to the original wherever it lives so people can see it for themselves.

One clear way to reach you

A contact form or email address, plus the two or three profiles you actually keep up to date. Leave out your home address and phone number unless you want calls.

Kept current

An old job title or a broken link undercuts everything else on the page. Update the site when your work changes, and date your posts so visitors can tell what's recent.

Questions

Are these personal website templates free?

Every design here is free to start from. You can sign up, build and publish on a Cactal domain without a card and with no time limit. Putting your site on a domain you own is $25 a month on Pro.

Do I need to know how to code or design?

No. Describe yourself in plain words and Cactal builds, edits and publishes the site. When you want a change, ask for it the same way.

Do I need a personal website if I have LinkedIn?

It helps. Your own site can show up when people search your name, and it holds what LinkedIn can't, like your writing, your projects and a resume to download. It's also yours, so it stays the way you set it up.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Every site starts on a free Cactal address. Connect a domain you own on Pro for $25 a month, and each additional website on its own domain is $20 a month.

Who owns the website?

You do. Every Cactal site is real React source code, so you can take it and run it anywhere. There is no export to buy.

Are these real people?

No. Each design is an illustration made by Cactal, and the names, people, employers, numbers and photos in it are fictional. Your site is built around your own story.

Can I add a blog or a newsletter?

Yes. Cactal includes a CMS for pages and posts, so you can publish your writing on the site. For a newsletter, your site can link to or embed the newsletter service you already use.

Will people find my site when they search my name?

Cactal includes SEO settings for page titles and descriptions, so search results show your name and what you do the way you choose. A domain with your name on Pro is also easy to put on a resume or business card.
