Describe your practice

What you design, where you work and how clients should reach you. Cactal writes the pages, sets up your inquiry form and publishes the site.

How it works

  1. 1 Pick a design

Browse by type of project and open any design to see it full size.

  2. 2 Add your practice's details

Your projects, your team, the places you work and how clients should reach you. Cactal writes every page and builds the site from your design.

  3. 3 Publish

Ask for changes in plain words until it's right, then publish free on a Cactal domain, or on your own domain with Pro.

What an architecture portfolio website needs

What you design, and where

Say in the headline whether you design houses, schools, workplaces or public buildings, and name the region you work in. A homeowner and a school board are looking for different things.

Your best buildings, photographed well

Lead with professional photos of finished work, and put the kind of project you want more of first. A few strong projects say more than every job you've ever done.

A page for each project

Show the brief, the site and what you did, with drawings or plans beside the photos. Written project pages also give search engines something to match.

The people, and their credentials

Photos and short bios of the partners and team, with each person's role. Rules on who may use the title architect vary by state and country, so check yours before you describe your team.

Credit for every image

Credit photographers and collaborators, and make sure you have the rights to each image you publish. Label renderings of unbuilt work as proposals so no one mistakes them for finished buildings.

A short project inquiry

Ask for the type of building, the location, the timing and a budget range. Clear questions turn a vague email into a first meeting with context.

Questions

Are these architecture portfolio website templates free?

Every design here is free to start from. You can sign up, build and publish on a Cactal domain without a card and with no time limit. Putting your site on a domain you own is $25 a month on Pro, or $240 a year.

Do I need to know how to code or design?

No. Describe your practice in plain words and Cactal builds, edits and publishes the site. When you want a change, ask for it the same way.

How much does an architecture website cost?

A custom build from a web design studio often runs into the thousands of dollars and takes weeks. A builder template costs less, but you still write and fill in every page. With Cactal it's free to build and publish on a Cactal address, and your own domain is $25 a month on Pro, or $240 a year, with no setup fee.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Every site starts on a free Cactal address. Connect a domain you own on Pro for $25 a month, or $240 a year, and each additional website on its own domain is $20 a month.

Who owns the website?

You do. Every Cactal site is real React source code, so you can take it and run it anywhere. There is no export to buy.

Are these real architecture firms?

No. Each design is an illustration made by Cactal, and the firm names, people, buildings, numbers and photos in it are fictional. Your site is built around your own practice and your own work.

Can I add new projects as they're finished?

Yes. Each project can have its own page with photos, drawings and a write-up, kept in the built-in CMS. When a building is finished, ask Cactal to add it in plain words, and publish when it looks right.

Can I download these as PDF portfolio templates?

No. These are designs for a website, not print files. Cactal turns the one you pick into a live site, and a link to it travels well alongside any PDF portfolio you send.
