Describe your business

What you shoot, where you work and how clients should reach you. Cactal writes the pages, sets up your inquiry form and publishes the site.

How it works

  1. 1Pick a design

Browse by the kind of work you shoot and open any design to see it full size.

  2. 2Add your details

What you shoot, your packages, where you work and how clients should reach you. Cactal writes every page and builds the site from your design.

  3. 3Publish

Ask for changes in plain words until it's right, then publish free on a Cactal domain, or on your own domain with Pro.

What a photography website needs

Your best work, edited hard

A tight set of your strongest images says more than every frame from every shoot. Lead with the kind of work you want to be hired for, not just the work you have done most.

Galleries that load fast

Big photos are the point, so they need to be sized and compressed for the web. A slow gallery loses people before they reach your best image, especially on a phone.

Where you work, in words

Many clients search for a photographer by city or region. Name the places you shoot in your headline, your pages and the descriptions of your images.

Packages or a starting price

People want to know if you fit their budget before they write. A starting price or a short list of what each package includes saves you both a round of emails.

An inquiry form that does the sorting

Ask for the date, location, kind of shoot and how they found you. If you already use a booking or client gallery service, link to it from the menu.

You, and what past clients say

An about page with your photo and a few honest lines on how you work, plus reviews from past clients. Ask before you share anyone's photos or names, and check what releases you need for commercial work.

Questions

Are these photography website templates free?

Every design here is free to start from. You can sign up, build and publish on a Cactal domain without a card and with no time limit. Putting your site on a domain you own is $25 a month on Pro.

Do I need to know how to code or design?

No. Describe your photography business in plain words and Cactal builds, edits and publishes the site. When you want a change, ask for it the same way.

How much does a photography website cost?

A custom build from a web designer often runs into the thousands of dollars and takes weeks. A builder template costs less, but you still write and fill in every page. With Cactal it's free to build and publish on a Cactal address, and your own domain is $25 a month on Pro, with no setup fee.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Every site starts on a free Cactal address. Connect a domain you own on Pro for $25 a month, and each additional website on its own domain is $20 a month.

Who owns the website?

You do. Every Cactal site is real React source code, so you can take it and run it anywhere. There is no export to buy.

Are these real photographers?

No. Each design is an illustration made by Cactal, and the photographers, names, people, numbers and photos in it are fictional. Your site is built around your own work.

Can clients book a session or pay online?

Cactal doesn't take bookings or payments itself. Your site can link to or embed the booking, scheduling or payment tool you already use, and your inquiry form emails you each new request.

Can I deliver client galleries through the site?

Cactal sites don't have client logins, so most photographers keep their gallery delivery service and link to it from the site. Your public portfolio galleries live on the site itself.
