Every design is an illustration by Cactal. The people, names and photos in them are fictional. Updated October 2026.

Describe your loved one

Who they were, when and where the service is and how people can share a memory. Cactal writes the pages from what you tell it, sets up a form for memories and publishes the site.

How it works

  1. 1 Pick a design

Browse the designs and open any one to see it full size.

  2. 2 Add their story

Their name and dates, the story of their life, photos, service details and how people can share a memory. Cactal writes every page and builds the site from your design.

  3. 3 Publish

Ask for changes in plain words until it's right, then publish free on a Cactal domain, or on your own domain with Pro.

What a memorial website needs

Their name, dates and a photo first

The first screen should say who the site is for: a photo that looks like them, their full name and the years of their life.

Service details that are easy to find

Date, time, place, a map link and any livestream link, kept current as plans change. Many visitors come for this first, often on a phone.

Their story, in your words

A short life story, the people they loved and what they'll be remembered for. A few true details mean more than a long, polished obituary.

A way to share memories

A simple form lets family and friends send a story or a message, and you choose which ones to add. It keeps the site personal and kind.

Photos from across their life

A gallery gives people something to linger over and share. Ask relatives to send the photos they have, from childhood to recent years.

Care with privacy and gifts

Leave out details like a home address, and think twice about a full date of birth. If the family prefers gifts to a charity, link to that charity's own donation page.

Questions

Are these memorial website templates free?

Every design here is free to start from. You can sign up, build and publish on a Cactal domain without a card and with no time limit. Putting the site on a domain you own is $25 a month on Pro, or $240 a year.

Do I need to know how to code or design?

No. Describe the person you're remembering in plain words and Cactal builds, edits and publishes the site. When you want a change, ask for it the same way.

How much does a memorial website cost?

A custom build from a web designer often runs into the thousands of dollars and takes weeks. A builder template costs less, but you still write and fill in every page. With Cactal it's free to build and publish on a Cactal address, and your own domain is $25 a month on Pro, or $240 a year, with no setup fee.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Every site starts on a free Cactal address. Connect a domain you own on Pro for $25 a month, or $240 a year, and each additional website on its own domain is $20 a month.

Who owns the website?

You do. Every Cactal site is real React source code, so you can take it and run it anywhere. There is no export to buy.

Are these real memorials?

No. Each design is an illustration made by Cactal, and the people, names, dates and photos in it are fictional. Your site is built around the person you're remembering.

Can family and friends leave memories on the site?

Yes. Cactal can add a form where people send a memory or a message. Each one comes to you by email with spam filtered out, and you choose which ones to add to the site.

Can people donate in their memory?

Cactal doesn't process donations. Your site can link to the charity or fundraiser the family has chosen, so gifts go straight to it.
